Monday, July 18, 1983 ; Page B2 Washington defense attorney Kenneth Michael Robinson may be moving to Los Angeles later this year, to represent car maker John Z. De Lorean against drug trafficking charges. The word is that Robinson will be negotiating over fees and scheduling but that the talks "are becoming fairly serious," in the words of one source, chances for a favorable plea bargain grow dimmer. De Lorean, accused of participating in an attempted $24 m now stands alone to face the charges after his codefendants pleaded guilty. A source familiar with the negotiation said De Lorean, who may be re-indicted on racketeering charges, believes he may have to go to trial and is shopping for a trial lawyer. It seems De Lorean was steered to Robinson by a neighbor, former senator Harrison A. Williicted Abscam defendant. Robinson defended former representative John W. Jenrette (D-S.C.) in the Abscam trials. Articles appear as they were originally printed in The Washington Post and may not include subsequent corrections. |
