Al KAMEN AND ED BRUSKE Criminal defense lawyer Kenneth Michael Robinson, fresh from recording his first country & western album, is branching into yet another career. This time Robinson is running in Prince George's County for the Republican nomination for Congress this fall to challenge incumbent Democrat Steny Hoyer. A source close to Robinson insists the 40-year-old Robinson, who has never held elective office or been active in politics, is earnest about the quest. The idea of running originated about two months ago, the source said, when Robinson got a call from a high-level Maryland GOP official who said, "Kenny, we want you." Robinson thought about it for a while and decided, singing career and band notwithstanding, to go for it. His campaign has been surprisingly low-key so far, given Robinson's decidedly outgoing personality, but our source says he expects things to heat up soon.
